We picture BRAMS Under 8s and OLYMPIA Under 8s who played the first of the 2004/2005 Season Cup Finals on Saturday 13th November. A very good game played by two very enthusiastic teams produced a 1 nil win for Brams.

All games in the current season have been played on schedule but we are getting concerned that one football pitch at Everton Park is becoming waterlogged too often and may cause us problems. I have contacted the city council's Sports & Recreation Service who have told me they will investigate this and contact me accordingly.

Many readers will have been made aware about plans to regenerate the Great Homer Street area by means of the multi-million pound Project Jennifer. During the months of October there were opportunities for local people to see the proposals and to make comments on them. As chairman of the Scotland Road & District Junior Football League I felt it necessary to convey our concerns about any parts of the proposals that would affect the football pitches at Everton Park. I am very grateful to Michelle Taylor (Northern Regional Director for St Modwen Developments) who has contacted me to say:

"The football pitches are within the overall area where we are intending to make things happen. The proposals for the new district don't currently affect the football pitches and we are keen that community facilities stay, and are increased at the heart of the new centre. However, we have a long process of planning land assembly etcetera to go through, and it is not impossible that some changes may be suggested as our proposals advance. If that happened though we would be re-consulting to ensure people are aware and have a chance to put forward their views".

I will be keeping in touch with Michelle Taylor and will advise all new news regarding the future of the football pitches at Everton Park in subsequent issues of the Scottie Press.

DON'T X THE LINE CAMPAIGN

Bad behaviour on football touchlines can affect the levels of enjoyment that all in the Scotland Road & District Junior Football League hope can be experienced by all members of the Junior Teams playing in the Scotland Road & District Junior Football League. The Scotland Road & District Junior Football League is therefore supporting the 'DON'T X THE LINE CAMPAIGN' which will ensure that junior football is played in the friendly atmosphere it should have. Other Junior Football Leagues supporting the campaign are the Walton & Kirkdale and the Anfield. It is hoped that more Junior Football Leagues will get involved and eventually all the Junior Leagues in Merseyside will get involved. Photographed are members of the Scotland Road & District Junior Football League's Under 12s Representative Team with members of the Craven Minor Junior Football League's Under 12s Representative Team prior to the kick-off of their Inter-league Cup Competition semi-final game on Sunday 8th February, played at the William Collins Football Ground, Flinders Street.

The DON'T X THE LINE CAMPAIGN has the backing of both Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, Liverpool County FA, the Football Association, and Natwest and David Phillips & Partners are getting involved. The campaign co-ordinator is Malcolm Lee who runs the Club Kitz Under 10s in the Scotland Road & District Junior Football League who can be contacted on 07951 442480.

VNC Under11s.jpg - 36k

Congratulations go to the VNC Under 11s Football Team who won a football tournament in North Tyneside. The team travelled up for the North Tyneside International Youth Football Tournament under the guidance of VNC Sports Development Work Ronnie Pepper. The Under 11s team secured wins against 6 junior football teams (Newcastle, Whitley Bay, Wallsend, Silkworth, Cramlington and Walkers) and these wins took them into the final game against last year's winners.

Ronnie Pepper would like to thank all who helped the VNC to enable the Under 11s Team to take part in the tournament. There are plans for Ronnie to take the team to Ireland and Amsterdam for similar tournaments. Anyone wishing to help Ronnie can contact him via the Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council - email ronnie@vncsport.org.uk
